4th Annual Patient Care Breakfast"Keep The Promise" Campaign
The Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation is honored that nearly 200 guests joined us at the Patient Care Breakfast on May 1 at The Oregon Zoo. Thanks to you, we raised almost $42,000 towards our “Keep the Promise” Campaign goal of $75,000! What a great start to the campaign!
The Patient Care Breakfast event could not have succeeded without the energy and support of our Table Captains. We are grateful to you all for recruiting your friends, family and colleagues. Because of your efforts to fill the room, OLSHF could better spread the message of our sight and hearing saving programs and the Lions’ mission.
We also want to recognize our program recipients, Julia Gray and John Conway, for sharing their stories with all our guests. A special thanks to hearing advocate, Kathryn DeVleming, who talked about the impact of bilateral cochlear implants on her life and her passion for assisting the hard of hearing and deaf communities.
Patient Care Program
Patient Care provides the gift of sight and hearing to those who would otherwise go blind or deaf. With the rising number of uninsured and the cost of sight and hearing surgery prohibitive for low income individuals, the Patient Care Program provides assistance for people in Oregon and Northern California who have nowhere else to turn.
Your Support is Needed
Your gift is meaningful and will have a profound impact. Each dollar donated is multiplied into over five dollars worth of services because of our partnerships with top-rated doctors, hospitals and other professional facilities which provide us discounted rates and many in-kind services. Surgeries and treatments take place at facilities that are dedicated to excellence in all aspects of healthcare.
Your support of Patient Care is needed now more than ever. There are 560,000 uninsured Oregonians and requests for Patient Care surgeries and treatments have increased 33% each year since 2009.
If you were unable to attend the event, we encourage you to make a gift today to support the Patient Care Program. All contributions will be part of our "Keep The Promise" Campaign as we strive to raise $75,000 between May 1—June 27 (Helen's birthday). Your support provides the gift of sight or hearing.
The "Keep The Promise" Campaign will help honor the promise Lions made to Helen Keller in 1925, where she asked us to join her cause to fight preventable blindness and deafness.
