Volunteer Opportunities
Mobile Health Screening Program Volunteers
The Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation and the local Lions will provide vision and hearing screenings to approximately 25,000 students in District 36-O this fall.
We are in need of about 30 volunteers per day to help us make these screenings successful! This is a great way to engage with kids in their natural school settings, work with other volunteers, and have the opportunity to detect possible vision and hearing problems in kids so they can succeed better in school and in life!
Volunteers will be managed by OLSHF staff and will work directly with children assisting with distance visual acuity, stereo vision and hearing screenings.
DATES: Sept. through Oct. 2013; Volunteer for one or more days!
TIMES: 8 AM – 2 PM
LOCATIONS: Please contact Mara Steen for details or Click here for the calendar with specific dates and maps of the locations.
Please contact Mara Steen, Mobile Health Screening Program Coordinator, at (503) 413-7329 to sign-up to volunteer or to RSVP for the training.
The Oregon Lions Mobile Health Screening Program, (MHSP), travels Oregon roads over 300 days of the year bringing health screenings to those who need them. This includes partnering with local schools to provide quality vision and hearing screenings for thousands of students each year by working with the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation (OLSHF) to provide programs that positively impact quality of life.
MHSP is the only free screening program of its kind in Oregon. Last year we had a record breaking year of screening over 37,000 people throughout the state. And we are setting our sights even higher this year with the addition of the Beaverton School District set to be screened this fall!
