Keith Price, PCC, 2011-2013 Chair (District O)
Keith was born in Eugene and owns Oregon City Grocery Outlet.  Keith married Denise Lukens-Price on December 27, 2008 and they still consider themselves newlyweds.  Keith says, “God has blessed me by bringing Denise into my life.  I am a very lucky man.” Between them they have six children; the youngest is Kayle, a sophomore at the University of Oregon.  

Keith joined Lions in 1997 and is a member of the Beavercreek Lions. He is a Past District Governor and is the immediate past Chairman of the Council of Governors. 

Keith is a golfer and he and Denise love to travel.  They go to Mexico a couple times a year to “just relax.”  They both love to read and play the card game Nertz—Keith says Denise is the “queen” of Nertz. Since he was born in Eugene, Keith was raised as a Ducks fan.  He goes to all of Oregon’s home football games with his kids and they tailgate for hours before each game.  He just got back from the Rose Bowl and even had that Beaver, Dennis Tichenor, go with him.  What matters is that Keith “loves being a Lion!”

 

David Rich, PCC, 1st Vice Chair (District O)
Born and raised in Oregon but left in 1962 after graduating from Washington High School in Portland and returned to Oregon 40 years later to purchase a business with his oldest son.  His professional career, working as a civilian employee for the Department of the Navy, gave him the opportunity to live in Oregon, Northern Virginia, California and Ohio.  David joined the Suisun Valley Lions Club in California on 1977.  He soon became aware that his passion for Lions was in helping to develop projects that served our children and our community.  David was the guiding Lion for the West Wind Leos Club and helped them develop several fundraising and service projects that helped members of the community.

In Ohio David moved up the chairs reaching the District Governor position. During this time they started the “Flags for the Community” program that is similar to our “Flags for 1st Graders” program.  They also started a 24-hour relay challenge project for the City of Beavercreek that fosters community spirit between youth and adults, provides an opportunity to increase healthy behavior and raises funds for youth programs.  To help build community spirit David volunteered to help restart the cities 4th of July celebration, initiated a city beatification project and the helped in the restoration of the cities cemeteries. One of his proudest accomplishments as Governor was to start the Vision Screening project for pre-verbal children.

After moving back to Oregon in 2002 David has been very active in Oregon Lions Leadership activities. He have been on the board and served at president of the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) program. He am also the board treasurer of the KEX Kids Fund, which furnishes glass to needy children in Oregon and Southern Washington.

David is an active member of the Beaverton Lions club.  He has served as President and Membership chair.  He also chaired the Peace Poster Contest, the Young Ambassadors program and is heavily involved in the Flags for 1st Graders program for the club along with three successful Mission Cataract Days.  He also felt fortunate to be able to participate in and support other programs such as the Shoes and Sox for Kids program, the Mexico Eyeglass Mission program, the Blind Veterans Association Convention, the Vernonia Disaster Relief efforts, the Marysville Elementary School fire school supply drive and many other programs.  

 

Brian Rangitsch, Treasurer (District R)
Brian was born and raised in La Grande, Oregon.  He was married 27 years and has two beautiful and gifted daughters and two spectacular grandchildren.  Professionally, he has been in public accounting 22 years and has been a partner in the accounting firm Windedahl, Rangitsch & Thompson since 1995. 

Brian graduated from Eastern Oregon University with a BS in Business Administration in 1984 and worked for Albertson’s, Inc. where was next in line for a company sponsored scholarship to USC’s Masters Program in Food Industry Management.  When Albertson’s discontinued this program, he decided to pursue a career change.  He attended night school at PSU and WOU to obtain the necessary college credits to sit for the CPA exam.  He then left Albertson’s and entered public accounting.

Brian is a 1996 graduate of the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce two-year Leadership Salem Program.  He was President of the Salem Area Chapter of the Institute of Management Accounts 1997–1998 (a 143 member organization with a 24 member Board).  He served as Treasurer of the Salem Art Association ($1,000,000 budget) from 2000–2004 and continues to serve on their Finance committee.  Brian was voted Volunteer of the Year for the 2004 Salem Art Fair, a nationally recognized NW community event with average attendance exceeding 100,000.  Brian served as Treasurer of Camp Fire USA Willamette Council for two years 2004–2005 and was heavily involved in facilities relocation and the sale of substantial timber and land holdings including portions of Camp Kilowan.  Since 1993 he has held numerous positions in Lions (his true passion) and was named a Melvin Jones Fellow by his Lions Club and what he considers the highest honor of his life.  Brian’s hobbies include family, hiking, bad golfing and travel. 

 

Jason Shaner, Secretary (District G)
Jason was born in California and has lived in Hood River since 1980. He is married to his middle school sweetheart (Amalia, 15yrs). He has two great boys, Darin (15) and Jason Jr. (11).  He enjoys playing basketball, watching sports and traveling.

Professionally, he is the president of Shaner Enterprises, Inc. DBA Rivers Edge Towing and Automotive. They have three locations in the Columbia River Gorge (Cascade Locks, Hood River, The Dalles), with 16 trucks. He is also the Secretary of the Board for the Oregon Tow Truck Association.

He has been a Lion since 2000, he has held many offices including President, Treasurer, Tail Twister, Zone Chair, Region Chair, District Governor and has served on the Lions Eye Bank of Oregon board. He is a Melvin Jones Fellow, Norm Ross Fellow and Lion of the year for his club.

Rod Bach, PDG, Immediate Past Chair (District R)
Rod was born and raised in and around the Portland area. After graduating from Oregon College of Education with a BS in Elementary Education, he started teaching at Portland Community College and Portland State University. He completed a Masters Degree at Oregon College of Education in Information Technology in 1972. Rod taught college for 32 years. He and his wife, Debbie, have been together 16 years. Between them they have four adult boys. In 2000, Rod joined both the Oregon Master Garden Association and the Central Lions Club. He served as the Marion County Master Gardeners chapter President for two terms. He then served as the OMGA State President in 2007.  Rod has been honored by his club and District with a Melvin Jones Fellowship and was named Oregon Lion of the year in 2009. Rod is Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees. His hobbies are gardening, bicycle riding and or course, volunteering. According to Rod, joining Lions is one of the best things he has ever done. Helping folks is a wonderful thing, and the TLC and friendship that is shown between Lions and their fellow man is hard to describe. He truly believes that with the Lions attitude we can accomplish anything.

Gary Tate, Chair, LEBO (District G)
Gary was born in Iola, Kansas; raised in Altadena, California.  Gary moved to Baker, Oregon in 1968.  Was an auto mechanic in CA, a journeyman carpenter and a building contractor in Baker building 30 homes and doing commercial remodeling.  Carol and Gary started their present business in 1985 as a produce market, “Garden Market” in Baker and moved it to Island City in 1987.  Along with the produce market they started G & C Foodservice; a wholesale foodservice operation delivering to restaurants, service organizations, city groups, churches etc., which they are still operating today.  He is married to Carol and they have five children, 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  Gary belongs to the La Grande Masonic Lodge and is a Past Master of that lodge, Union County Shrine Club and was President of that club and is currently the General Team Manager and 1st Vice Chair for the East-West Shrine Game that is held in Baker City annually.  Gary also belongs to the La Grande Eagles Lodge and the La Grande Lions Club.  He is a Past District Governor for the Lions of Eastern Oregon and a past Council Chairman of MD 36.  He is a past chairman of the Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation as well as past Treasurer for both the Sight & Hearing Foundation and MD36 and a past Trustee of the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation.  Along with his wife Carol he is serving as an Extension Consultant for Lions Clubs International. Currently Gary serves as the Chairman of the Lions Eye Bank of Oregon Board and has been on that Board for quite a few years.

Ray Andrieu, PDG (District E)
Raymond (Ray) Andrieu, 36-E Past District Governor and current Co-Cabinet Secretary, is a native of Klamath Falls, Oregon, born in 1941 and grew up on a farm nearby. He graduated from Merrill High School and Oregon State University. Ray managed a farm implement dealership in Klamath Falls for a while then took a commission in the US Air Force for 20 years as an aircraft maintenance officer and instructor, retiring in 1986 as a Major. A brief period running the family farm lasted until 1989 when Ray qualified for an Oregon Real Estate Sales License. During his real estate career, he served a term as President of the Klamath County Association of Realtors. Ray joined the Merrill Lions Club in 1988, serving as secretary, president, director, treasurer and membership chairman and has been zone chairman, region chairman, cabinet secretary, and district governor. Ray has four children and three grandchildren. Lion Anita Harris is a very dear friend.

Sam Angelos (District R)
Sam was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He originally worked for a wholesale drug company in Idaho Falls where he was a salesman for five years, and then moved to Salem in 1965. At that time he opened the American Family Steak House Restaurant, where he worked until 1972. After the restaurant, he worked for the state as a counselor for worker’s comp. Sam and his wife, Joy, managed the Wolf Creek Tavern, twenty miles North of Grants Pass. Sam ran the kitchen and Joy ran the restaurant. They both retired and moved to Corvallis to be with their son and his family in 1991. In 1992, Sam moved back to Salem and began travelling. Sam and Joy were married for 56 years, and had two children, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Sam has been a Lion since 1972. He is a member of the South Salem Lions Club and has been Club President and Zone Chairman several times. He has been on the Board of Advocates for the Visually Impaired for many years. Sam is in his second year as a Foundation Trustee and has served on the Patient Care Committee for four years now. When he’s not busy with his volunteer activities, Sam enjoys a round of golf.


Robert “Bob” Belmont, PDG (District R)
Bob was born in Bakersfield, CA and has been a police officer and stock broker. He joined Lions in 1982 in Swan Lake Lions Dist. 4L5, where he served as President and Zone Chairman. Since then, Bob has joined various clubs and has always been very active, serving as President, Youth Exchange Chairman, and was even on the Melvin Jones Memorial Board. Bob transferred to Springfield Mohawk Lions 2001, where he is currently the President, and has been Zone Chair.  He also was VDG and DG (2004-2006) for 36-R, and elected to OLSHF Board for 2011-2014.  Bob received the honorable Melvin Jones Fellow Award in 2005.

Bob has two children and a granddaughter in California.  In addition to serving as a Lion, he volunteers for the local police department and the SMART reading program. 

Gerald Caldwell (District O)
Gerald was born in 1940; he was raised and still lives in Portland. He attended Holladay Elementary School, Washington High School, Clark Junior College (A.A. Banking & Finance). He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served four years Active Duty and 24 years in Reserve. In 1964, Gerald began a banking career with First National Bank of Oregon. He started as a teller and retired as a Branch Manager. In 1978, he began working for First State Bank of Oregon as Assistant Manager then Personnel Officer. In 1988, he began work at Bonneville Power Administration as a Real Estate Specialist/Land Manager. Gerald retired from BPA in 1995. Gerald also served in the Army Reserve, and as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with Multnomah County. He retired in 1997 from the Army Reserve. Since retirement, he has become very involved with Lions, The American Legion, Oregon Convention Center, Employer Support of Guard & Reserve, and a church Men’s Club (all volunteer positions). He works part time at the Oregon Convention Center as a receptionist and ticket agent. Gerald enjoys yard work, small projects around the house, travel with his wife and reading.


Art Carroll (District G)
Art grew up in upstate New York, in Saratoga Springs. He served in the U.S. Army artillery prior to attending and graduating with a B.S. in Forestry at Michigan State University. Art married his college sweetheart Diana, an elementary school teacher, from Grand Rapids, Michigan and they moved west for work with the US Forest Service in 1961 in Truckee, CA. He has four children and eight grandchildren. Art served 39 years with the U.S. Forest Service with 25 years in 5 different National Forests in California, 5 years in Utah and 9 years as Area Manager of the National Scenic Area in the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon. Twenty-nine years of his career was in management and officer positions. One of the highlights of his Forest Service career was the development of the first recreation facilities in the National Forest System to accommodate the disabled. This project was accomplished all with donated funds and services in partnership with the local Lions Club and was the forerunner of Art’s later work with local Lions clubs and the Foundation. Art retired in June 2000 to Hood River. He is active in numerous volunteer efforts such as Hood River Food Bank, Neighborhood Irrigation District (Chair), Hood River Valley Parks & Recreation District (Vice Chair), Gorge Discovery Center at The Dalles (Board) and Lions Foundation. He is also a member of the Historic Highway Advisory committee. Art has been President of Odell Lions Club three times and presently serves as Vice President. He manages the annual MHSU visit to screen all six elementary schools in the District and the contract to park cars at the Hood River County Fair that involves 65 Lions over a four day fair. Art plays golf and works on forest trails for the local park district.


Rennie Cleland, VDG (District E)
Rennie is a retired wildlife law enforcement officer with the State of California (28 years) and a member of the Dorris Lions Club since the late 1980s.  Rennie was asked to join the DLC by a retired game warden when he moved back home to Dorris and since his father was a Lion, he decided to join too.  Rennie is a giver and asks for nothing in return, likely getting that genuine quality from his folks who were that way too.  He has been instrumental in tasking the DLC membership to leave their legacy in the community and know that LCI is the force to making their community a better place to live.  As a member of an older club, they continually strive to make a positive difference.  Rennie looks forward to meeting the OLSHF challenge as a member of the board. His wife Susan is a new Lion and they have three grown children. 

Jo Hallam, VDG (District R)
Jo was born and raised in Enterprise, Wallowa Valley, Oregon. His educational background includes three years of college, plus four years active duty with the U.S. Marine Corps, and eight years in the Reserve. Jo transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve where he served for an additional 22 years, retiring as an E-8 First Sergeant.  His employment experience includes working as a bank employee and eventual bank manager for 17 years, a license investigator for the Oregon Liquor Control Commission and state employee for 19 years, and was the Executive Director of Wallowa Band Nez Perce Trail Interpretative Center in Wallowa, Oregon.   Jo has been a Lions Club member for over 18 years and He is very excited about serving on the OLSHF Board.


Anita Harris (District E)
 is the current secretary for the Lions Club of North Bend. She was born in Seattle and lived her first 58 years in Washington State.  She raised three children and served as a Camp Fire Bluebird Leader and a Cub Scout Den Mother. 

Anita has four grandchildren, two grown-up grandsons, a fourteen-year-old granddaughter, and a ten-year-old grandson. In 1973, she began working as a Clerk Typist II for the State of Washington and was subsequently promoted into accounting. She retired as an Accountant III for the State Treasurer's Office.  For the last several years, she was responsible for the distribution of state and federal collected revenues to local governments. Upon retirement she moved to Alaska and later to Oregon arriving in 2004 in Coos Bay.  Her current hobby is GeoCaching with District Governor Ray Andrieu.

Carleene Iverson (District R) 
Carleene was born in White Salmon, Washington. She has lived in 40 states and Germany. She has been a Lion for eight years. Carleene has been to four USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forums. She also attended the Pacific Northwest Lions Leadership Institute. She has been Bulletin Editor, Membership Chair, 1st and 2nd year Director, 2nd, 1st Vice President and Club President with Pacific Sea Lions Club. Carleene has worked to help organize the District 36R convention for five years, has been District 36-R's "Lion’s Heart” for four years, and a Region and Zone Chair. She has worked with the Multiple District and District R Extension committee in setting up new clubs. Outside of Lions, Carleene has been in retail for 25 years and in management for 20 years. She has a certificate in bookkeeping.  Carleene enjoys working in her yard and doing paper crafts.

 

Pat Jaffer (District R)
Pat was born in Iowa, and raised in Minnesota and North Dakota.  She graduated from N.D. University at Grand Forks with a double major in Social Science and Social Work.  Pat is married to Mo Jaffer and they have five children.  She obtained a Master’s Degree in Special Ed from OCE, now known as Western Oregon University, in Special Education with a focus on Deaf Education.  Pat taught at the Oregon School for the Deaf. She obtained her insurance license and was an agent for 19 years.  After retirement, she coordinated the Ella Curran Food Bank for Monmouth-Independence for 16 years.  She was a co-founder of the Neighbors Helping Neighbors, a non-profit group formed to provide good housing to low income families. She has been the treasurer and manager of apartments for 15 years.  Pat is also active in the Social Concerns area of her church, her Lions Club and other local groups.



Marge LaTourrette (District E)
Marge is a graduate from Southern Oregon University with a B.S. in Education. Her first four years of teaching were in Applegate where she taught first and second grades in a four room school with eight grades, after which she obtained a teaching position in Grants Pass. She has lived in Grants Pass for 43 years and taught first and second graders for a total of 33 years. Marge has been married to Charlie for 44 years, has three children and four grandchildren. She likes spending time traveling with the kids, loves to read, and enjoys scrapbooking. Marge enjoys the many great projects the Grant Pass Lions Club do. The club sets up and runs the Fourth of July Fireworks display and a Christmas display in Riverside Park. Marge is currently the MD-36 and District E Lions Quest Chair, has been Club President three times, a Past Zone Chair and Past Club Secretary. Currently, Marge holds the Tail Twister and Lion Tamer positions in her club.

Al Scott
Al was born and raised in the metro Atlanta, Georgia area. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1977 with a B.S. in Industrial Management. He and his wife, Becky, have been married for 23 years. They have two children, ages 19 and 16. They have owned and operated the Oak Grove Day Care and Preschool in Milwaukie, Oregon for the past 21 years. Al serves as an elder and council member for New Life Christian Center in Milwaukie.

Al has been a member of the Milwaukie Lions Club since 1995. He has served his local club and the Lions District 36-O in various capacities. He is Milwaukie Lions Club’s Sight and Hearing Chairman, screening approximately 40 people per year for vision/hearing assistance. He is very proud of his club’s dedication to purchase eyeglasses and hearing aids for those less fortunate. Al was a presenter at the 2009 NW Lions Regional Leadership Institute and a Helen Keller award recipient.

Al enjoys spending time with his family, reading, golf, fishing, gardening, and Lion’s club events.


Colan Slaght (District O)
Colan was born in Minnesota and moved to Oregon with his family when he was five years old.  He grew up and went to school in Beaverton and continued his education at Clark College in aeronautics in order to get his private pilot’s license.  Flying was a hobby for many years.  Colan now has a career in automotive collision, starting out on the line and working in management for the last 25 years.  Married to his wife Betty for 32 years, he has four children and six grandchildren, whom they love to spoil and send home.  A very active member of the Portland Bentham Lions Club, Colan has been a Lion since 1993 and has held all the positions in his club at least twice, and has been active in his District.  He loves golfing, fishing and hunting, and is looking forward to retirement. 


 

Jan Stewart (District G)
Jan was born and raised in Pendleton, OR, which she left right after high school.  During her working years, she was Secretary for Quality Control (Secret Clearance) for a defense sub-contractor and a Full-Charge Bookkeeper for B-W Acceptance Corporation – both in Washington, DC area.  While living in Hawaii she was Officer Manager for her church and later for a Veterinarian.  She later became Administrative Assistant for a tree trimming company and was relief supervisor for nine crews of up to twenty-seven men doing work schedules and dispatch. After moving to Seattle area she was Secretary of Materials Department and Materials Analyst for a company that made Aerospace Composites.  She then became a Materials Analyst for Inventory Management and later was Master Scheduler (APICS certified-American Production and Inventory Control Society and CPIM-Certified in Production and Inventory Management) for a company that made aerospace products.  After retirement, she returned “home” to Pendleton in 2000.  Since then she has been employed seasonally with a program to help low-income families keep their heat on in the winter.  Jan is also busy volunteering at the local Food Bank, driving low-income clients to medical appointments and staying very active in her local Lions Club (Treasurer 2002-2005, Newsletter Editor 2000-present, four years as Cabinet Secretary, President of Club 2009-2010).


Carol Tate, PDG (District G)
Carol was born in Hollywood, CA, and worked in the movie industry until she went to the University of California at Santa Barbara and then moved to the Northwest in 1956.  She lived in Seattle and then the Tri-Cities before moving to Baker in 1973.  She was the Publications Office Manager for Battelle Northwest at Hanford for seven years and then was a real-estate salesman/receptionist in Mercer Island, WA. She then moved to Baker where she was the office manager for the Grizzly Bear Pizza Company Commissary.  Carol is also a certified ski instructor and taught skiing both in the Seattle area and at Anthony Lakes Ski Area 21 miles from our home in North Powder.  She and her husband Gary ran the ski race program at Anthony Lakes for kids from 3-18 years for four years.  Carol married Gary in 1976 and between them they have five children, eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  They both worked for a guiding service for several years where Carol was camp cook.  They were both foster parents for juvenile offenders.  Carol is also a member of Eastern Star and a Shriner's Lady.  She and Gary have had a wholesale foodservice business since 1985. They took up golf in 2003 and have been avid golfers ever since.

Carol joined Lions in 1990 and was District Governor in 2000-2001.  She Chaired the Eye Bank from 2006-2008. She is very involved in creating new clubs through Extension and has received an Extension Award.  Carol has received three International Presidents Certificates of Appreciation, a joint Helen Keller Award, a Foundation Honor Award, a Foundation Vision and Fellowship Award. Carol is a Melvin Jones Fellow.  She most recently received the Lions Clubs International Leadership Award. Carol has been a Foundation Trustee since 1999 and has served on the Youth Grant Committee, the Resource & Development Committee, Long Range Planning Committee and the Executive Committee.



Dr. Steve Tronnes (District E)
Steve was raised in Montana. He graduated from Montana State University with B.Sc. in Zoology. He graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry with Doctor of Optometry degree. Steve joined the U.S. Army and was five years active (Korea and Hawaii). He is in private practice in Baker City and John Day, Oregon. Steve is currently working with Dr. Jon Weston in Roseburg. Steve has a special interest in Low Vision and eye diseases causing decreased vision. Steve has always been active in community organizations, especially ones that serve youth. He was YMCA Board President in Baker City and is now in Roseburg. He was a member of Kiwanis in Baker City (served as Secretary and President), Lions in John Day and Roseburg (President in John Day, Secretary in Roseburg), and the swim team, Relay for Life. Steve has been married to his wife Mary, for 37 years and they have four grown children and one grandson. Steve is an active runner and participates in several events including long distance relay races. He is also an active pilot.


Mary Lee Turner, Vice District Governor (District O) 
Mary Lee is a native Oregonian who has traveled extensively and had the privilege of participating in a variety of community service projects. After 30+ years of working in the field of blindness rehabilitation, she retired in 2010. Her calendar is filled with commitments to Lionism, volunteering with hospice, serving on the Board of Oral Hull Foundation, participating in courses offered by Landmark Education, has close interaction with family and numerous friends. Mary is renewed by gratitude for the fullness of her life and rejuvenated by walking, reading, swimming, giving away massage, and singing. She is looking forward to the exposure to more service opportunities by serving on the OLSHF Board during 2011-12.


Brenda Wilkinson, PCC (District O)
Brenda is a native Oregonian who was born and grew up in Portland. She is a ‘graduate’ of Kennedy McMenamins Bed and Breakfast (Kennedy Elementary School) and Jefferson High School. After graduating from Pacific University in Forest Grove with a degree in Natural Sciences, she spent a year of training in laboratory sciences at Oregon Health Sciences University (formerly University of Oregon Medical School) and became a certified Medical Technologist (MT ASCP). Her working career of over 35 years was spent primarily in the clinical lab and research areas at OHSU and the Veteran’s Hospital with a short stint at Kaiser Hospital in Honolulu. She also held a part-time position at NW Cancer Specialists, an oncology clinic, after retiring from OHSU.

Brenda joined Lions in 1983 as a member of the West Linn Lioness Club and served in many capacities. She held offices of the District Lioness including president and then went on to hold Lioness offices at the Multiple District level including President, 1991-1992. In 1992 the West Linn Lioness chartered as a Lions Club where she maintained her membership. When she and husband Bud, moved to King City, she became a member of the King City Lions and later, transferred to Tigard 2000 Lions Club where she and Bud are today. Brenda served as the first woman District Governor of District O, 2000-2001, and went on to serve the multiple district as the Chairperson of the Council of Governors, 2002-2003. As a Lioness, Brenda served as a Trustee, and as a DG, she and the other governors were also included on the Board of Trustees. She is currently on the Patient Care Committee.

Brenda enjoys singing with her Sweet Adelines in Vancouver, WA and has taken up quilting and other artistic sewing endeavors in the past few years. She spent time on the Alumni Council at Pacific U back in the ‘80’s and currently is on the ‘Friends of Music’ committee at Pacific. One of these days she intends to get back to playing the organ.
