Lions Club Sight & Hearing Aid Assistance

In 1925, Helen Keller challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness" during the Lions Clubs International convention. Today, Lions Clubs of Oregon volunteers work diligently to raise funds in order to assist qualified Oregonians in obtaining vision exams and new eyeglasses.

Most of Oregon's Lions Clubs also provide hearing exams and rebuilt used hearing aids with a six month warranty for those who don't otherwise have the ability to purchase them. This program is made available primarily to those individuals who do not have insurance that covers vision and hearing and whose income falls at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level Guidelines. Some clubs also have length of residency requirements and other policies as determined by the individual Lions Club.

  • If you need assistance obtaining eyeglasses or hearing aids, please call the Lions Information Service number at 971-270-0203 and leave the information requested on the voicemail.  Calls are reviewed daily by volunteers and your contact information will be forwarded to the Lions Club that serves your area.  If you have not heard back from a Lions Club member within a week, please call again.  Assistance depends on eligibility and Club funds available.
